Happy 58th Anniversary!

Here is the happy couple posing before their wedding cake 58 years ago. The wedding was in Papa & Granny's house on June 22, 1951. Look at that phone! And love that wallpaper and those coordinating drapes.

This picture was taken at Christmas of 1985. What an example they have set for all of us. Happy Anniversary, Daddy & Mama!

Happy 8th Anniversary!

On July 1, 2000 Tony & Elena were married at the Anne Hathaway Cottage (wife of William Shakespeare), which is on the grounds of the Globe Theatre in Odessa, Texas. Two kiddos later and a whole lot of miles, they now live in Kyle, Texas. Congratulations you two! We love you.

Happy 57th Anniversary!

My parents have been married 57 years as of June 22. What an awesome example of two best friends taking care of each other! I only remember them having one "argument" and that was when we were building the house they still live in. I was in the 6th grade and we had been to Lubbock looking for a bathtub and/or found one while looking for something else. The details are gone, but I remember that they found a tub with a slight flaw in it and the discussion began as to whether to buy that tub or not. They say that if you can survive a house building, your marriage can survive anything. Guess that's true. Then there was the time that Daddy spit tobacco juice in Mama's spackle bucket. But that was no argument. Just an explanation of how nasty that was from Mama. They still raise some cattle and some feed crops to take care of the feed for those cattle. And the Spur Bulldogs are still cheered on to victory by them. Congratulations, Cristol & Maude! Love you!

One Year Anniversary!!!

One year ago, I was doing a breast self-exam and found the mass that would change our lives forever. We went that weekend to see the kids in San Antonio and Austin.

I started making a list of what all has happened since then.

It was too long to put on the blog. Wow. Just reading what we've been through brought back lots of memories, many of them painful, but many, many more were treasures.

Just the fact that I'm still here one year later and am doing great is a miracle. As Dr. Laidley told us on November 7, 2006, "I think we can save your life, but it's going to be a long, hard year." Thankfully, we didn't know ahead of time what was coming.
